Travel Diaries: Malibu, California
My days of living in California are coming to an end and it has me reminiscing on all the amazing travel experiences I was able to have. My mom and I drove up the coast of California the week before my internship began. We didn’t have any set plans or places to stay (thank goodness for Airbnb), but we set off with open minds and enthusiastic spirits.
The first stop of our trip was in beautiful Malibu, California. We stumbled across the perfect place to stay on Airbnb up in the Malibu hills. There was no cell phone reception or wifi, so we spent our free time reading books and exploring. It was such a tranquil experience and taught me to look up from my phone and enjoy the world around me–something I suggest everyone try every once in a while.
The food in California is pretty much all overpriced, yet some of the best food I’ve had in my entire life. My absolute favorite restaurant in Malibu was Malibu Farm. Everything about this place was a dream. The food, the location, the interior, my goodness the interior. It was the cutest and most “Instagram worthy” restaurant. I ordered their cauliflower pizza and MY GOSH it was delicious. We left delightfully full and with matching mother-daughter Malibu Farm tank tops, whoo! It is definitely a must stop place if you ever find yourself in or traveling through Malibu.
This view was one of my favorite parts of our time in Malibu. There was only one road to take to and from town from our Airbnb. The first night we got there it was too dark to see anything, but the following morning we were left speechless. Compared to flat Indiana, anything even remotely resembling a mountain will capture our attention. The ocean in the background was the icing on the cake.
Till next time, Malibu.
